In a striking blend of past and present, Adidas Originals has announced the launch of its “2000 Running” collection, a fresh take on classic running shoe designs from the turn of the millennium. The collection, which hits stores on January 22nd, is a nostalgic nod to the iconic running silhouettes of the early 2000s, updated with contemporary elements to bridge two decades of athletic style.
Central to the collection are three redesigned models. The headline act is the Ozmillen sneaker, a fresh design that borrows heavily from the renowned Ozweego. This new model is a fusion of classic and modern, featuring metallic overlays, mesh uppers, and a striking two-tone color scheme, all underpinned by the latest Adiplus cushioning technology.
The Response CL is the second model in the lineup, a shoe that pays tribute to Adidas’ innovative past. It incorporates mesh segments for breathability, synthetic components, a raw two-tone color design, and an EVA cushioned midsole for comfort.
Rounding out the trio is the adiStar Cushion, a revival of one of the most iconic Adidas designs from the 2000s. Staying true to its futuristic roots, the sneaker boasts a breathable mesh upper, reflective elements, metallic touches, and Adiprene cushioning, ensuring it remains as relevant today as it was twenty years ago.
Accompanying the collection’s launch is the “Two Thousand Stories” campaign, a unique collaboration between two generations of photographers. British photographer Ewan Spencer, who gained prominence in the late 90s and early 2000s, teams up with contemporary photographer Sophie Jones to create a visual dialogue that spans generations. This cross-generational collaboration aims to tell the story of Adidas’ enduring influence in the world of fashion and culture.
Available through Adidas’ website, physical stores, and select retailers, the “2000 Running” collection promises to be more than just a throwback; it’s a celebration of timeless style, blending the essence of the past with the innovation of the present.
