Continuing Commitment to Sustainability
Miu Miu, under the helm of Miuccia Prada, has unveiled its latest offering – a captivating upcycled denim collection that marks the brand’s fourth endeavor in sustainable fashion. This collection launch, occurring in the second week of the new year, reinforces Miu Miu’s dedication to environmental equity and innovation.
The roots of Miu Miu’s venture into upcycling trace back to October 2020 when the label first introduced its upcycled collection. Since then, the brand has steadfastly pursued its commitment by reimagining an array of pieces sourced from vintage and non-designer selections spanning various decades.
For the creation of this new Upcycled Denim line, the Milan-based brand scoured the globe for jeans dating back to pre-2000. This global approach to material sourcing imbues the collection with a diverse array of design elements – from unique fading and patina to an assortment of colors, embellishments, and varied weights.
This environmentally-conscious collection encompasses a wide spectrum of denim pieces, including wide-leg jeans, shorts, bra tops, trucker hats, baseball caps, and an exciting addition – bags. Notably, Miu Miu marks the inclusion of bags in its upcycled collection, carefully crafting them from the brand’s deadstock leather. The collection’s details boast inspirations ranging from ’50s haute couture gold and flower embroideries to distinctive patinas and printed leather labels.
To present this new collection, Miu Miu has enlisted the talents of actor Ever Anderson and model Huijia Chen, showcased through visually compelling imagery captured by Jet Swan. The Upcycled Denim collection is currently available both in select stores and online, marking another stride in Miu Miu’s commitment to sustainable fashion.
